Kiwanda Cha Tumaini

Kiwanda Cha Tumaini - Green BackgroundWhen we first began to envision providing for the disadvantaged children of Kenya, such as the ones we found at a small school in the slums of Nairobi, we never imagined the broad scope that vision would encompass. Had we known, we probably would have shrunk from the task because it is so much bigger than we are. Only the Great and Mighty God we serve could pull this one off!

It soon became apparent that there are needs beyond the slums of Nairobi — children all over the country who have lost their parents, or whose parents simply cannot afford to care for them.

The Swahili name for The Hope Factory is Kiwanda Cha Tumaini, a fitting name for an orphanage, don’t you think? So there you have it —  Kiwanda Cha Tumaini — the vision God has given us for a loving home for orphans; a place where they can be fed and clothed and nurtured; a place where they can grow up in a new family. What we have envisioned is an entire community, designed to be self-sustaining; a place where children can run and play and breathe clean air; a place where cast off children can become part of a small family unit; a place where spiritual guidance, education and medical care are provided; a place where their ‘parents’ can work and earn a living.site-plan-w-hope-factory-logo-5x7During the summer of 2013 when we returned to Kenya, we began the process, taking the first steps toward opening the doors of this safe haven for the lost little ones of Kenya. May God lead us every step of the way!
